Our Vision is:
To get the idea of “towards carbon negative systems” accepted as the essence of strategies to capture and sequester atmospheric CO2, improve soil productivity and enhance agricultural and environmental sustainability.
Our Mission is:
To initiate and execute projects throughout Gaia resulting in carbon negative systems.
Strategic Foresight:
If Gaia, the Earth System, and its sub-systems, could strive and progress towards carbon negative, the looming potential planetary catastrophe brought about by climate change will not only be averted but the full productive potential of the soil will be unlocked as soil carbon sequestration becomes the norm, biomass carbon sequestration is optimized and all viable renewable and sustainable energy resources within systems are tapped.
Philosophical Foundations:
We will never be able to escape carbon…
· “You will be astonished when I tell you what this curious play of carbon amounts to …” Michael Faraday (1791 – 1867).
· “If the elaboration of carbon were not a common daily occurrence, on the scale of billions of tons a week, wherever the green of a leaf appears, it would by full right deserve to be called a miracle”. Primo Levi (1919 – 1987) – The Periodic Table.
· “Gaia …explained… by systems science, which is about anything alive, whether an organism or an engineering mechanism while it is working … Gaia, the whole system
- organisms and material environments coupled together …
- this huge Earth System that evolved self-regulation…which behaves as a single, self-regulating system comprised of physical, chemical, biological and human components [The Amsterdam Declaration – 2001] with the goal to sustain habitability”. James Lovelock ( ) – The Revenge of Gaia (2007)
"… the most important feature of the systems approach is that it is committed to ascertain not simply whether the decision maker’s choices lead to his desired ends, but whether they lead to ends which are ethically defensible”. Churchman, C.W. (1971).
